Opting for a reinforced chassis is often unavoidable for our clients in the premium armored vehicle sector. They protect their vehicles in compliance with the highest ballistics classes while also seeking vehicle approvals. Since the serial chassis cannot reliably carry the added weight due to the extensive armoring, many components need to be replaced by reinforced ones. These also include axle suspensions which are made of high-strength, high-grade and QT steels. These components are designed at universities which have specialized in this field.

We are often included in the development process. A university, the customer, and i-provide thus work closely together to develop fabrication-ready components, which i-provide manufactures. Our CNC machining know-how enables us to manufacture these often complex components using effective manufacturing strategies, thus ensuring cost-effective production. You will receive ready-to-install components suitable for vehicle approval

Order Workflow

 External: Have a specialized university design a chassis for your vehicle. We will be happy to put you in touch and assist with the project.

 Inquiry: Send us the drawings and CAD files provided by the university and let us know the quantities you require.

 Offer: We will send you a binding offer within 48 hours. We are happy to discuss the technical and commercial details once you have the offer.

 Order Confirmation: Once your order is placed, you will receive an order confirmation. All relevant data and the binding delivery date will be included. The delivery period depends on the type of components and their number. It is usually between 20 and 40 working days.

 Production: Your components will undergo regular checks during manufacture. Any surface finishes required will be applied.

 Quality Assurance:  The components will undergo a final inspection once manufactured. This will be performed using hand measuring tools or on one of our measuring machines, depending on the quality requirements.

 Initial Sample Test Reports (optional): We can produce initial sample reports for you in line with different standards. Note that you need to specifically order them and they come at an extra charge.

 Delivery: We will deliver your finished products to the agreed quality standard at the agreed time to the agreed location, anywhere in the world.

FAQs for Special Axle Suspensions

If high protection levels (B7/VR9) are targeted for an armored vehicle, the overall weight of the vehicle becomes very heavy due to the extensive armoring. Standard axle parts such as transverse links, wheel carriers, and trailing links cannot withstand the stress loads and must be replaced with reinforced axle components.

Generally, they are. Many modifications are required to the chassis, including replacing standard axle suspensions with reinforced axle suspensions. These must be specially designed for the vehicle. i-provide can manufacture them.

The stress load on the chassis is extremely high on heavy armored vehicles which have been armored to high protection levels (B7/VR9). Reinforced axle mountings are essential for these vehicles. If they are not used, the driving performance may quickly deteriorate due to components subjected to excess stress loads. The service life will also be reduced significantly.

The individual integral parts in an axle suspensions are custom-designed and -manufactured, so there is no supply from warehouse stock. i-provide can manufacture the components if we are sent the manufacturing data (drawings).
